Guides by Guides: Dwarfland

Dwarfland is one of Glasshouse Mountain's hidden gems. You may have seen it while looking out from Slider Gully. It's the little rock face you see past the farm fields looking out towards Beerburum from Upper Slider Crag. The crag has a small number of climbs but enough to keep people with a variety of experiences entertained making a good day out for anyone wanting to get more experience on the ropes and experienced climbers teaching new ones the way of the ropes. Routes range from 7m to 20m high and give you amazing views of the Glass House mountains. Most routes can be accessed from above to set up top ropes or even rescue draws on routes you couldn't quite get to the top of.

Access

Dwarfland is located in the Glasshouse area roughly 70km (~1hr) from Brisbane and is accessible in 2WD vehicles. Simply drive to Matthew Flinders Car Park and follow Caves Rd going under the railway bridge. Follow this road going past an orchard to your left and a national parks sign until you come to a gate. Park near the gate and ensure you're not blocking the track.

Facilities & Ethics

Dwarfland is located in the traditional country of the Kabi Kabi people. The crag is located on a popular hiking trail, the Yul-yan-man trail and offers unique flora and fauna. You may come across Glass House Mountains' Tea Tree or Leptospermum luehmannii  (Don't worry, we can't pronounce it either), which are unique to the Glass House Mountains and considered endemic to the area. This means they only grow here and are protected.

There are no toilets or facilities at the crag itself however, Matthew Flinders Car Park has them. It is recommended you make a pitstop before heading on to the crag.

Protection

Well protected with both fixed hangers and ring bolts. Some anchors are hard to see and require you to climb over the lip.
