Meet Jonas Teixeira

Jonas is a seasoned climbing instructor with over 12 years of teaching experience. Inspired by the outdoors and the thrill of nature, Jonas was drawn to the climbing community, meeting like-minded individuals. Early in his climbing career, Jonas faced a pivotal moment in the Blue Mountains where he got into a dangerous situation due to a lack of knowledge. With the realisation of the critical importance of effective communication and technical understanding in climbing, this experience shaped his approach and passion for teaching, where he strives to make complex concepts clear and accessible for his students.

With 26 years of climbing experience, Jonas is deeply passionate about adventure trad climbing. His favourite climbing locations include the cliffs of Tiborgargan (currently projecting Achilles in the summit caves) and Mount French, as well as the stunning routes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (his highlight being Via dos Italianos).

Jonas has a deep appreciation for the simple, versatile tools that are essential for safe climbing. His go-to piece of equipment is a 240cm sling, which he uses for a variety of purposes, including foot stomping, anchoring, emergency attachment points, and a swami harness. He always carries a small spare locking carabiner on his harness for added security and reliability. On his climbing adventures, Jonas never goes without a compact first aid kit packed in a small dry bag, along with a locking carabiner and a 1.5m prusik for emergency situations.

Above all, Jonas’s love for teaching comes from the satisfaction of sharing his passion for climbing and helping others gain the confidence and knowledge they need to enjoy the outdoors safely and responsibly.
